For the convenience of clients with limited weekday availability, Hill Country OCD Treatment Center offers a weekend intensive outpatient treatment option. The HCOCD weekend intensive outpatient treatment program occurs Thursday through Sunday for two or more consecutive weekends. This program is customizable to further accommodate our clients’ schedules and is ideal for clients experiencing moderate to severe symptoms whose circumstances (i.e., school, work, parenting) may prevent them from committing to our traditional two or three week intensive outpatient treatment.
To increase the likelihood of positive outcome, we require patients in our weekend intensive to commit to a minimum of two consecutive weekends. Each day consist of an average of 5 hours of individual ERP therapy.
Each client (or family member when applicable) has access to contact their therapist after hours over the course of the weekend intensive treatment program for support and to answer questions or concerns. Clients will be provided a treatment plan to continue when in between weekends and Hill Country OCD will continue to monitor each client’s progress after the Weekend Intensive Program during the optional six week AfterCare Program.
Hill Country OCD Treatment Center offers clients a choice of a 2 or 3 week OCD Intensive Treatment Program utilizing the most effective approaches currently available for the treatment of OCD. After a thorough assessment of each client, a treatment plan is designed and tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.
The Two Week Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program offers a minimum of 40 hours of direct client and therapist sessions and the Three Week option offers over 60 hours of individualized care!
The Two and Three week Intensive Treatment Programs are the most expedient treatment options for advanced and severe cases of OCD. These options provide an opportunity to address compulsions in longer sessions and in a controlled environment which research suggests leads to faster symptom reduction.
Hill Country OCD is committed to supporting clients every step of the way. If a client is having a challenging evening or weekend he or she may contact the therapist directly after hours.
Exposure and response prevention (ERP), a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), has been identified in multiple controlled studies as the most effective therapy modality for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. ERP has been recognized as the “gold standard” when treating OCD. While many therapy modalities emphasize the way you think and feel, the behavioral component is often overlooked. Behavioral change serves an important role in treatment as avoidance of anxiety provoking stimuli ultimately reinforces and maintains anxiety over time. With ERP, clients are gradually and gently exposed to anxiety provoking thoughts, objects, and situations while blocking associated compulsions and/or rituals.
One of the most important components of the initial phase of treatment is education regarding anxiety and OCD. Hill Country OCD works closely with clients and their families to ensure that they all have a clear understanding how OCD operates in the mind and how it manifests itself. Therefore, both the client and their support system are better prepared to face the challenges OCD presents. Through no fault of their own, families often enable their loved one’s OCD by giving into the sufferer’s compulsive demands, such as providing reassurance, only at the expense of reinforcing the OCD. HCOCD clinicians provide critical education to help minimize unintended reinforcement, and firmly establishes guidelines that can help facilitate the healing process.
Our qualified and trained therapists work with each client to devise an individualized treatment plan, which is implemented in a confidential setting. At Hill Country OCD, clients are not put into groups or sent “on their own” to complete ERP. We will assist clients every step of the way for an average of 5 hours per day. Clients will leave each session with written exercises to continue the skills they have learned.
Hill Country OCD therapists will continue to monitor the progress of each client following either the Weekend or Two Week Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program through our optional After Care Program. The After Care Program consists of a minimum of weekly 50 minute follow up sessions and treatment plan updates either in person or via telephone or video conferencing (for out of town clients) for a minimum of 6 weeks following the intensives. We will tailor this plan to meet specific individual's needs and accommodations. Clients have the option to continue therapy on a weekly basis upon conclusion of the after care program.
Hill Country OCD offers to coordinate with our clients’ health care providers (psychiatrist, etc) in order for our clients to have continuity of care. For our out of town guest, will coordinate continuation of care with their behavioral health therapist of choice. If the client does not have an established relationship with a therapist trained in the treatment of OCD, HCOCD will assist as best we can in locating an appropriate therapist for follow up care.
Hill Country OCD is committed to doing what it takes to support our clients and has found that providing professional assistance in the home environment, where triggers often manifest, ultimately improves treatment outcome.
For our out of town clients, during the after care program, we can meet virtually via video conferencing to have clients practice ERP in their home environment with the therapist virtually present to provide guidance and support.
